When sisters Mayra and Maria Pacheco moved to St. Louis from Florida in 2018, they craved the flavors of home, but Venezuelan cuisine was nowhere to be found. So, they rolled up their sleeves, fired up the grill, and introduced St. Louis to the food they grew up loving.
What began as Amaiz-ing Cakes Latin Food at the Tower Grove Farmers’ Market quickly became a local favorite, with lines for their fresh arepas, cachapas, empanadas, and tequeños stretching across festivals and markets citywide.
In 2024, the Pacheco sisters opened their first brick-and-mortar restaurant in Downtown STL: Amaizing Arepa Bar! This vibrant, family-owned eatery brings Venezuelan soul food to the Gateway to the West. Every dish is made from scratch with love, tradition, and big flavor.
The space is colorful and warm, decorated with nods to Venezuela and the city they now call home. Whether you’re grabbing lunch on the go, craving a taste of Maracay, or hosting a special event, Amaizing Arepa Bar is where Latin flavor meets STL spirit.
